The book, filled with proverbs preaching industry and prudence, was published continuously for 25 years and became one of the most popular publications in Colonial America, selling an average of 10,000 copies a year. • On Dec. 20, 1892, Alexander Brown and George Stillman of Syracuse, N.Y., are issued a patent for an inflatable automobile tire. Before the pneumatic tire, wheels were often made of solid rubber, making travel a bumpy experience on dirt or cobblestone streets, • On Dec. 17, 1903, near Kitty Hawk, N.C., Orville and Wilbur Wright make the first successful flight in history of a self-propelled, heavier-than-air aircraft. The gasoline-powered, propeller-driven biplane stayed aloft for 12 seconds and covered 120 feet on its inaugural flight. " On Dec. 21, 1946, an undersea earthquake sets off a powerful tsunami that devastates Honshu, Japan. When the tsunami hit Honshu, 20-foot waves obliterated buildings from shorelines and about 2,000 ships were cap- sized. In all, 60,000 square miles were flooded by the waves and 40,000 homes were completely destroyed. • On Dec. 16, 1951, the detective series "Dragnet" appears on television for the first time, as a sneak preview on the anthology show "Chesterfield Sound-Off Time." They moved to CIoverdale from Boulder City, NV, 70 miles north of Las Vegas. Patti is working at Studio 128 in Geyserville and will fill in at Downtown Hairworks as needed. Ron has 30 years of experience, keeping up to date with classes on a regular basis. He also will be offering barber services in addition to a full menu of hair services from classic to contemporary, including up-dos. color, p6J'ms, razor and scissor cuts, weaving and highlighting for the entire family. Heather Gladden, who has worked in several local salons will provide manicure and pedicure services, from natural nails to acrylics and nail art. The Downtown Hairworks building has been completely remod- eled inside, most of the work done by Ron himself, with help from his son. There is plenty of parking in the adjacent city lot. Downtown Hairworks is open Tuesday through Saturday with flexible hours and evenings by appointment. Ron adds, "Service and courtesy are the most important cornerstones of the successful businesses that we built in Nevada, and we extend that same commitment to Clover- dale." To make an appointment call 894-9830. • Bob and Joanne Krucker, owners of the Hamburger Ranch, are now serving up Kansas City style BBQ made in their new wood- fired "Fast Eddy" BBQ, designed by world famous Kansas City BBQ champion Fast Eddy. Bob is from Kansas City, where BBQ has drawn people since the 1930s. They are now offering ribs, pulled pork, tri-tip everyday and chicken on the weekends. The meat is hand rubbed before being put in the BBQ which can cook up to 500 pounds of meat. The pure wood pellets firing the BBQ are made specifically for cooking food and emit little smoke and ash. The slow cooked and rotisseried meat produces a moist and flavorful pork, beef and chicken. Bob Krucker, also known to his friends as "BBQ Bob," is also a certified BBQ judge and proudly shows his certificate when asked. Because there is no restaurant offering authentic wood-fired BBQ in the area and the winter weather doesn't allow them to continue with their very successful summer evening BBQs, both Bob and Joanne Krucker feel that offering this "unique to Cloverdale" BBQ will give local diners more choices and will stimulate and draw new business to their landmark restaurant. They continue to offer their burger, sandwich and breakfast menu in addition to the new authentic Kan- sas City wood-fired BBQ. You can call ahead to take out or order for large parties. If you love real BBQ, just walk through the door and let the aroma tell the story. Call 894-5616 or stop in at the Hamburger Ranch located at 31195 N. Redwood Hwy., just south of the Hwy. 128 junction, north of downtown CIoverdale. • Congratulations to Jos~ and Mary Pelayo, owners of Piacere Ristorante Italiano, who on Dec. 10, celebrated the eighth anniver- sary of their restaurant in CIoverdale. They continue to offer their consistently good food while making their patrons feel very much at • SERVICES • • SERVICES • C33M Clearwater Lodge (707)894-4615 PUBLIC NOTICES FICTITIOUS BUSINESS NAME STATEMENT Mailing address: same is (are) hereby regis- FILE NO, 4541 tered by the following owner(s); Spring Hill ModifyYoarMortgagelocatedat:2544Cleve- Jersey Cheese Inc 4235 Spring Hill Road land Ave., Suite 110 Santa Rosa, CA 95403 Petaluma.
