According to Cloverdale Po- lice Investigator Judi Olufsen, the two individuals involved were Margaret Denbeste, 53 years of age, and Michael Lepiz, 19. Investigator O]ufsen reports that "Mr. Lepiz is being investi- gated for drunk driving:" According to witnesses Mrs. Denbeste was sitting in the cen- ter turning lane at the entrance of BriarwoocL Mr. Lepiz was trav- eling northbound in his compact, a Mercury Lynx, and swerved and hit Mrs. Denbeste's truck head-on then somehow his car flipped over and landed on its roof. Investigator Olufsen reports Mr. Lepiz was treated and re- leased with a minor head wound and Mrs. Denbeste is still under a doctor's care for a back injury. According to the Sheriffs Department, Chester P. Gaylor, 47 years old, and Carolyn J. Sousa, 33 years old, were arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking. In a department report, sher- iff s reported di scovering an esti- mated $8,000 stash of Metham- phetamines and $2,000 worth of marijuana at the couples home along with two loaded handguns, a loaded rifle, scales, records and scanners. $5,139 in cash was seized by the sheriffs department for as- set forfeiture, according to the department.
