Napa. banker candidate for State Senate Bob Sanchez, a Napa County banker and former deputy North- ern California Vice-Chair for the California Republican Party, has announced hiscandidacy for State Senate post being vacated by Sen- ator Mike Thompson. Sanchez is a resident of Napa and Vice-President and Manager of Redwood Bank there. He states "I believe California must have a fresh new wave of experienced, professional and de- cisFce leaders coming from the pri- vate sector able to address today's issues and capable of preparing a long term plan to meet the state's future needs." He feels that big government must step aside and let control of education remain local and in the hands of parents, teachers and county school board. "I believe in a strong 'academics centered' cur- riculum as the best. way to equip our children to compete and suc- ceed in the world of tomorrow." He said he would like to see the legislature deliver a fair and rea- onabIe budget on time while moving the interests of people in the second Senate District to the top of the Legislative agenda. In addition, he would like to see the Legislature begin thinking long term for the sake of California. The candidate, his wife and two children live in Naps.
