Frank Riggs (R-CA-I) has announced that the House of Representatives has given final approval to legislation containing $750,000 he secured to begin implementation of the recommenda- tions of the Vernal Pools Task Force, which will streamline the wetland permits process in the Santa Rosa plain, i "This project is vital for the people and economy of Sonoma County," Riggs (R-CA-l) said. "When fully implemented, it will streamline the permit process and ensure that our most environmentally sensitive vernal pools are protected, while still allowing private property owners to exercise their rights." =Implementing the recommendations of this landmark task force will be good for both our environment and our economy," said Riggs, who secured $250,000 in the 104th Congress for the project. "It is a national model for combining wetlands protection with farming and appropriate development."
