Paul Wilcox, Pro Dick Pride, Allen Sargent, Harry Birger, Paul Wilcox, 112. There were a total of 60 players and Pros but the abovenamed are the money winners The longest drive of the day was won by Ben Reston. Of local interest was the play of our gal Joan Bathrick. She competed in the Tri-Club Tour- nament held at Sonoma National, Mountain Shadows and Bennett Valley. The three-day play ended last Friday and our golfer posted a 208 to take all the marbles in her class or flight as the case may be. Joan is really leaping, or I should say driving, and putting ahead by great lengths these days and before long we may be looking at a new Champ at the local club. Joan hasn't been playing golf all that long, simply because she was too busy doing other things, like working for a living. Now she has more time to devote to he cause and it has begun to show. Nice to see perseverence pay off, whoever that is. We are off this day to foggy old Arcata to play in a tour- nament we have been invited to play in for the past three years. One thing about this bash, it never gets too warm up there and I remember one year it rained cats and dogs. The setting is just beautiful and if you can't relax and play a decent gamehere, there is no excuse. I will let you know what happens this year on my return, the Old Man willing. This leads me to a sad report that just reached me. My old and long-time friend and also golfing partner, Bill Reynolds passed away Monday the 4th. Bill and his wife Marge are long time members of the H'burg Club and parked their golf cart next to ours in the stalls below the Club House or rather the Pro Shop. Marge and my golfing wife played for the Women's ub Championship about 28 years ago and defeated Mary on, I believe, the 15th hole. However, I must say in Mary's defense that she was quite ill, but being the competitor she is, played the match and as I remember went in the hospital the next day for a week or two. A lot of water has gone under the bridge, or I should say a lot of golf balls have been struck, since then, but the two women still play the game. Marge plays usually only nine holes, but Mary's still in there pit- chin. See you all up the crick aways. :4 ' Men's Softball First game Tues. night was Auto Parts and I.T.
