Page 4 - Wednesday, July 23, 1980 A very special Golden Wedding anniversary A Golden Wedding an- niversary is always a very special occasion, but when you celebrate fifty years of marriage with all the original members of the wed- ding party present for the reaffirmation of your vows, with only two missing, that makes it more than special. That is what happened when Alice and Walter Weggen- mann of Cloverdale celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary and reaffirmed their wedding vows at a ceremony at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Healdsburg on Saturday, June 24. Walter Weggenmann took as his bride, Alice, on June 25, 1930, at St. John's Lutheran Church in San Francisco. The Rev. Norman Redeker performed the ceremony again on June 25, 1980-50 yeas later. The same maid of honor and bridesmaids participated again, as did the best man, ring bearer and ushers. After the ceremony a reception followed at the Villa Chanticleer with over 150 guests attending. A lovely buffet was served. The Weggenmanns, originally from San Fran- cisco, came to live in their home in Cloverdale on a permanent basis 11 years ago. The home Weggenmann built himself for their sum- mer home overlooking the Russian River. In the past II years Walter Weggenmarm has undergone cancer surgery twice, with doctors saying each time that he could not survive. The Weggenmanns said they deeply and sincerely believe that the Lord can and .will perform miracles if it is right and according to His will. They said their prayers were answered and the "miracle" they prayed for came true. Jack Weggenmann says his doctors have pronounced him completely cured. Members present at both wedding ceremonies included Conrad Schudd, Herbert Bobsein, Ethyl Paully, Alma Johnson, Albert Sonnicksen, Henry Mitchell, Hermine Rogers, Waiter Paully, Dorothy Pfotenhauer and Carl Peters. Shown are the original participants of the wedding of Alice and Walter Weggenmann in 1930.
