Upgrading planned at Jefferson School By Roberta Lyons Jefferson School is in need of some serious upgrading - to the tune of several hundred thou- sand dollars. Money is available from the State for the much needed mod- ernization projects; but Cloverdale Unified School Dis- trict will have to pay half the • bill. An application for fundinghas been submitted to the Office of Public School Construction !OPSC) which puts the District m line for project approval and funding. The construction cost estimate from OPSC is approximately $640,800; fifty percent of the con- struction will be funded by OPSC while the balance will be funded by the District using, among other funds, developer fees. The type of work eligible for the modernization includes wir- ing for technology, painting, Healdsburg Animal Shelter holds volunteer orientation The Healdsburg Animal Shel- ter will hold the monthly volun- teer orientation on Saturday, May 24. The hour-long session will begin at 1 pm and is de- signed to acquaint people with the shelter and the volunteer opportunities available. Jeffer- son Elementary, Washington School and Cloverda]e ttigh School are all in line for the re- roofing project which will be funded by the State's Deferred Maintenance Fund which is con- tributing $25,000 and the District's Capital Improvement Fund reserve.
