Eagles alumni dominate Wolverines 28-0 By Charlie Delfino It was a night to remember. Twen- ty-seven athletes came together to play the game they love. They came from all over the country to put on the home blue and represent a pro- gram they have given so much to in the past. These athletes, from as far back as the class of 1994, gave the Eagles faithful an exciting night of football under the lights. It was a battle even before the game started as players of all ages fought to condition them- selves both physically and mental- ly. The Eagles lost a player even be- fore the opening kickoff due to an injury caused while running a pre- game passing route. Players fought dehydration and muscle cramps throughout the game yet in the end these Eagles from the past dominat- ed the Wolverines from north of the 101, 28-0. When you talk about an alumni game it's much more than the amaz- ing 78 yard touchdown pass from Frank Valencia to Chad Prieskorn, it's much more than the 48 yard in- terception and run back for a touch- down by Brandon Hickman; much more than the touchdown pass from Valencia to Gonzalo Mejia, and even way more than the great open field run and touchdown by 2007 graduate Nick Hickman; it's about the guys who now work for a liv- ing. It's about the Dad who walks out at halftime and holds his son while proudly posing for pictures. It's about the player who cheers on his team in between losing whatev- er it was he ate that day. It's about the heart, the desire; ad he dedica- tion that these athletes gave to the community the second they put on those pads. There are those who live for the game, those who simply wanted to go out and hit someone again, and for a player like Hugo Orozco, it was a warm up and work out for a college career in kicking that he has been working so hard to achieve. Thanks to all 27 players who came back home and made a com- munity proud! It was a exciting night of football. #34 2006 graduate Gonzalo Mejia follows the path of the ball as he is about to make a nice catch. I LIVE in Cloverdale. I WORK in loverdale. How ool is THAT?
