He is one of Sonoma County's most passionate, hardworking, and visionary farmers, making him a wonderful choice as the recipient of the 2019 Viticulture Award of Excellence. Kevin and his wife Linda established their company, Redwood Empire Vineyard Management, in the early 1980's. Their forward-thinking mentality, commitment to the land and local agriculture, and willingness to put action behind talk resulted in Redwood Empire being the first vineyard management company in California to be certified sustainable. The organization currently works with 28 certified sustainable clients. Kevin served as the Chairman of the Sonoma County Winegrape Commission Board from 2015 to 2017. His expertise in sustainability has been invaluable to helping the Commission advance toward the goal of certifying 100% of Sonoma County's vineyards sustainable. Kevin's humble attitude and generosity toward the winegrowing, agriculture and the greater Sonoma County community is evident in his history of volunteering. Kevin is the Chairman of the Sonoma County Grape Growers Foundation Board where he determinedly works to support agricultural employees and their families in Sonoma County. He is also current Chairman of the Santa Rosa Jr College Viticulture Advisory Board and current Secretary for the Sonoma County Trailblazers.
