The figure represents about 12 percent of the enrollment at CSUF. Of the total, 474 students completed the semester with a perfect 4.0 or straight A grade point average tGPA). The remaining 1,301 honorees had grade point averages ranging from 3.50 to 3.99. A student must carry a course load of 12 or more units to be eligible for the list. Those individuals who completed the semester with a 4.0 GPA receive letters of commendation from CSUF President Harold H. Haak. Students with GPA's of 3.5 to 3.99 receive congratulator letters from William Cor- coran, interim dean of student affairs. Barbara Bates of Ch)verdale had a perfect 4.0 straight A grade point average. Lt. Patterson in Western Pacific Navy Lt. James W. Patteson, Jr., son of James W. and Mary E. Patteson of P.O. Box 407, Geyserville, CA, has departed on a deployment to the Western Pacific and recently participated in exercise "Rimpac 80" in the Pacific Ocean lie is a pilot assigned to Fighter Squadron (VF) 211 based at the Miramar Naval Air Station, San Diego. While deployed, his squadron is embarked aboard the air- craft carrier USS Con- stellation operating as a unit of the U.S. 7th Fleet. "Rimpac 80" was the seventh in a series of major Fleet exercises involving "rim of the Pacific" nations. Forty-one ships, 200 aircraft and 20.000 sailors and airmen from Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand and the U.S. participated. The exercise was designed to test and improve combat readiness of the units in most aspects of maritime warfare. Anti-surface, anti-air and anti-submarine warfare procedures were practiced, along with at-sea replenish- ment and opposed transits. Also, a weapons firing was conducted at the Pacific Missile Range Facility at Barking Sands, Hawaii. VF-211 flies the F-14 "Tomcat," a fighter aircraft designed for all-weather operation and capable of both tactical bombing and providing close air support for ground troops. A 1971 graduate of Healdsburg High School, Healdsburg, CA, and a 1975 graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA, with a bachelor of science degree, Patteson joined the Navy in March 1976. NWPC endorses Judge Day Judge Richard Day, Santa Rosa, was endorsed for Municipal Court Judge, Dept. 5 of Sonoma County, the position he now holds, by the National Women's Political Caucus, Sonoma County, at their March 24 meeting, it was announced today by the NWPC Political Action Coordinator, Sherry Warner of Healdsburg. Day was appointed to the Municipal Court in 1979. Prior to that he was a private attorney in Sonoma County.
