ARer finish ing up league play she has dived right into club basketball which she will play all through the summer. During the month of July she will be traveling extensively throughout Oregon, Washington and Texas. Krista says she first got into basketball a/r going to one of her brother's games. "I wen t to a couple of his games and said, I want to play!" Kr]sta has grown up in Clo- verdale and is the daughter of Joy and David Warren. She says she appreciates the support of her parents. "If it weren't for them, I wouldn't be able to do everything that I'm doing." "I'm very proud of Krista," said mom Joy Warren. "She commits a lot of time towards her basket- ball, but she is going toreap a lot of rewards." Joy noted that Kris- ta has a lot of enthusiasm and pushes herself. "She doesn't need too much prodding," she noted. ! After graduating from UC San Francisco, Dr. Garvin joined the navy. "I joined the Navy as a way to get a lot of training. I did a lot of work in a short amount of and got to travel," Dr. Garvin said. After his discharge, he heard about Dr. Gary Temple- man, DDS leaving the city and bought the practice. "I liked Cloverdale and the natural beauty of its surround- ings. I had lived in small towns in the Navy and I enjoyed them," he said. Office hours are Monday- Thursday 8-5 pm and Tuesday- Wednesday, 9-6. Dr.Garvin's is located at 118 East Second St. Call 894-2514 for an appoint- ment. Six foot one Krista Warren was recently named Most Valuable Player for the NCL I basketball league. Joy believes that youth soccer helped Krista a lot in developing her speed and agility. It also helps that she likes to "play with the boys," which has improved her confidence and ability. "She puts time and work into improving her game, and it shows," room concluded. Volunteers sought to visit patients Interviews are now being held for potential volunteers to visit in Sonoma County hospitals and skilled nursing facilities through Hospital Chaplaincy Services. Preparation for this commu- nity service includes the "Lis- tening from the Heart" training program on providing emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families. Key requirements include com- passion and the ability to listen attentively. Bilingual volunteers are especially needed. If inter- ested call 539-0495. April 2, 1997, Cloverdale Reveille, Page 7 CARE Foundation to present Lip Sync Show at Rotary Wine Auction/Polenta Feed April 26 CARE's third annual Lip Sync Show will provide entertainment during the upcoming Rotary Wine Auction/Polenta Feed on Satur- day, April 26 at the Citrus Fair. Last years event was a big hit. The Lip Sync will take place during the Rotary Wine Auction/ Polenta Feed. Bruce Campbell of Healdsburg will once again be the wine auctioneer. Rotarian Bob Del Sarto's famous polenta with chicken and sausage gravy will be accompanied by salad, bread and dessert. Dinner will also be served at 6 pm. Presale tickets are only $15 for the dinner, the auction and the show, and are going like hot cakes. Call Bob Perrault for tickets at 894-3554. CARE is a local nonprofit foundation that raises funds to supplement academic, artistic and cultural programs in Clover- dale's public schools. "We depend on your support. River Road Rendezvous set for May 4 The Annual River Road Rendezvous (Picnic), is planned at the KOA Kampground on Sunday, May 4, from noon to 5 pro. This year a potluck buffet is on the bill. Participants are asked to bring their own plates and utensils; coffee and soft drinks are provided. There will be complimentary Wine Tasting and door prizes.
