The David Gorchoff, M.D. to succeed Dr. Pace as AVRMC Medical Director Dr. Gary Pace is stepping down as Medical Director of Alexander Valley Regional Medical Center to spend more time treating patients. He will be succeeded by David Gor- choff, M.D., a Family Physician who has many years of experience as a Medical Director and Physician Consultant. "Gary Pace played a key role in bolstering the medical staff during the past three years. He successful- ly recruited Doctors Patricia Serio, Dirk Van Meurs, and Enrique Gonzalez-Mendez, as well as Nurse Practitioners Ann Luke and Philip- pa Jacobs," said Deborah Howell, executive director at AVRMC. Dr. Pace will continue to see pa- tients in Cloverdale while transi- tioning to full-time practice in Sebastopol. Dr. Gorchoff was medical direc- tor at AVRMC prior to the arrival of Dr. Pace, whom he helped recruit to Cloverdale. He also helped to facil- itate the move of clinical services from Copper Towers to the current site, on Tarman Drive. Previously, he served at Russian River Health Center/West County Health Cen- ters for over a decade. Furthermore, Dr. Gorchoff was the first Medical Director of the Redwood Community Health Coa- lition and Chief of the Medical Staff during the transition from Sonoma County Community Hospital in Santa Rosa to Sutter Medical Cen- ter. AVRMC is in the process of ex- ploring options to qualify for FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center) status. If approved, federal money will, for the first time, begin flow- ing to the Cloverdale clinic, now in its 15 'h year of operation. ' "The growth in the past three years has been tremendous. AVRMC is a great place to work and I look forward to working with Executive Director Deborah Howell and the medical staff assembled by Dr. Pace," commented Gorchoff. Dr. Gorchoff joins the staff on Jan. 1, 2010. AVRMC is accepting new pa- tients, including Medicare and Medi-Cal. Most private health in- surance plans also are accepted. (Editor's note: Anached is an excerpt from the City of Cloverdale's first issue of "Sincerely, Cloverdale." it is entitled "Carol's Comments" and is a variation on the quarterly Mayor's Newsletter started by Joe Palla last year. Council member Carol Russell now serves as the Mayor of the City of Cloverdale. The newsletter is currently posted on the city's website, www.cloverdale.com, and will be updated as the city has new information of interest. A frequent visitor recalls one of our lighthearted Friday Night Live! events with the whole crowd dancing -- even the littlest kids. A dear friend speaks about the instant friendships her recently relocated grandchild has found here. A weary colleague notes the "civility and respect" shown by our City Council, City staff and residents during the toughest economy in eight decades (confiding that his own city "could use a dose of both!") A stressed-out holiday vacationer marvels at our spontaneous smiles, green hills, glori- ous skies and peaceful, welcoming ambiance. A local business owner overcomes another wakeful night to greet customers in a cheerful, positive way that lifts their outlook and hers. I heard all this and more at various holiday gatherings. It seems everyone who experiences even a little bit of our city has a personal story about Cloverdale's special spirit. ! have my own wonderful stories just as you, dear friends, neigh- bors and colleagues, no doubt do. They are among the many rea- sons it is such an honor and privilege to serve as your Mayor in 2010.
